“I know he will,” I said.

My heart had started to slow but kicked up when I met Elias’s eyes.

His expression was fierce, almost a scowl, but I’d never been more comforted by anything than I was comforted by this.

And I believed him. Knew that he would avenge my father.

He took a step back, and it took everything inside of me not to throw myself into his arms again.

I didn’t, but I didn’t have to.

Elias grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room, out of the warehouse, and into the car.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“To my penthouse,” he said.

He sounded as cocky, as usual, but I could see the defensiveness.

Elias expected me to argue.
